Abstract
Erre a kontrasztra épül a dolgozat két alapvető dichotómiája: birodalom versus kisállam, illetve politika versus vallás. / The doctoral thesis examines the political, religious, and economic adaptation strategies of the Kingdom of Judah under the varying intensity of Neo-Assyrian hegemony in the 8th–7th centuries BCE. The starting point of the research is the historical contrast between the ancient Near East's first great world empire, Assyria, and a peripheral, seemingly insignificant small kingdom, Judah: while Assyria is characterized by relentless militarism and boundless expansion, Judah's strength lies not in weapons but in the faith in the Lord of Hosts that forms the basis of its religious identity. Two fundamental dichotomies underlie the thesis: empire versus small kingdom, and politics versus religion.
